Borrowing Power Calculator

Start from a repayment you are comfortable with and see the indicative loan it could support. This is a rough estimate to help you plan, not a lending decision. A broker can give you a real assessment.

This is an estimate, not an offer. What you can actually borrow depends on your income, expenses, credit history and the lender's assessment. Talk to a broker for a real assessment.

How do lenders decide how much a business can borrow?

Lenders assess serviceability: whether your cash flow can comfortably cover the new repayment alongside existing commitments. They look at trading income, existing debts and repayment history, and many test the repayment with a buffer. Each lender weighs these differently, which is why the same business can be offered different amounts.

This calculator works the other way around: it starts from a repayment you are comfortable with and shows an indicative amount, which is a planning estimate, not a lending decision. We are a broker, not a lender, so we cannot tell you what any lender will approve. For what lenders look at in practice, from trading history to credit files, see the eligibility questions on our FAQ page, or the full definition of serviceability in the glossary.

How to read this estimate

This calculator works backwards from a repayment. It takes the repayment you say you are comfortable with, the interest rate, the term and the frequency, and works out the loan that repayment would clear over that term. It is the reverse of a repayment calculator. It is useful for a quick sense of scale, but it is not a borrowing-capacity assessment: a lender looks at your income, expenses, other commitments, credit history and the purpose of the funding before deciding what you can borrow. Use this as a starting point, then talk to a broker who can compare real options across a lender panel.

Estimate only

This calculator gives an estimate for general information only. It is not financial advice, a quote, or an offer of finance. Actual rates, fees and repayments are set by the lender and subject to approval and your circumstances.
